4. Historic Cheese Factory

The A.O. Smoot Cheese Factory was a business located at 100 East 100 North.

This Cheese Factory was eventually vacated when Mr. Smoot moved the business to the larger Cheese Factory near the Sevier River Bridge on East Main Street. It ran from 1929 to 1940. In 1931, during the Depression Era, the Cheese Factory had a payroll of $1,500 and Piute County boasted "No Unemployment," no small feat for this time in history.
